TRA Parent / Spectator Expectations
Athletic contests are public events and represent opportunities for TRA players, coaches, parents, and fans to be ambassadors for the school. As a member of the TSSAA, TRA adopts expectations of the TSSAA for all sporting events:
SPECTATORS CAN HELP PROMOTE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP BY OBSERVING THE RULES OF FAIR PLAY. EACH ONE IS REQUESTED TO TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR KEEPING THIS GAME AT A HIGH LEVEL OF SPORTSMANSHIP.
SPECTATORS CAN SUPPORT THEIR HIGH SCHOOL INTERSCHOLASTIC PROGRAM BY REFRAINING FROM DEROGATORY OR INTEMPERATE REMARKS OR CHEERS. WE HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY THE GAME AND SUPPORT YOUR ATHLETES IN A POSITIVE AND SPORTSMANLIKE MANNER.
In addition to these expectations, TRA asks that their fans and parents adhere to the following guidelines:
-
Respect and sportsmanship should be shown to all players, coaches, officials, and other fans at all times
-
Abusive, threatening, or derogatory language will not be tolerated, and spectators using such language will be asked to leave
-
We encourage spectators to ask politely that spectators displaying negative behavior refrain from doing so
-
Spectators should not interact with players on the sidelines or bench during a contest
-
Spectators should not interact with a coach during a contest
-
Players should always be the first line of communication with a coach
-
If a parent wishes to meet with a coach, a mutually agreed upon time should be set up
-
Parents should not approach a coach before or immediately after a game but should wait until the next day to set up a time to meet
-
