In the spring of 2009, TRA developed a "Grandparent's Association" to honor the very active and very appreciated grandparents of TRA. We have always had an Elementary Grandparent's Day, but thought it would be great to take it a few steps further. With the help of a Grandparent Advisory Board, we put together a very successful first year of events that included Grandparent computer classes, Grandparent elementary reading days and Grandparent Free Admission Nights at our home sporting events.
There are no fees to join our Grandparent's Association, it is just a way for us to say "thank you" to our grandparent's and all that they do for our school.
If you are not already on our grandparent mailing list, would like to sign up for a Grandparent reading day (third Friday of each month), or would like to honor your grandchildren and purchase a leaf on our Legacy Hall donor tree, please contact the Advancement Office at 829-4221, ext 1204.
The Grandparent Association 2010 Fall Semester of Events is as follows:
Grandparent Walking Hours in Legacy Hall (multi-purpose room) M-F 8am-10am
Please come and go as you wish between these hours and park in front of the high school building. Some elementary PE classes may be going on during these hours, but the outside lines will be free.

FREE Admission Grandparent Nights for 2011 Spring Sports:
March 28 - JV Baseball 4:30pm
March 28 - Varsity Baseball 7pm
March 28 - Varsity Softball 5pm
March 29 - MS Softball 5:15pm
An Elementary Reading Program is being implemented through the Grandparent's Association. Grandparent reading days will be the first Friday of every month and will filter to the third Friday of the month if interest dictates. Any grandparent that would like to read to the class should call the Advancement Office at 829-4221 ext. 1204 to set up your time. You may read to any classroom or specify your grandchild's class. You also may read your favorite children's books or ask the teacher to choose them for you.
A FREE APPLE Computer Basics class was offered to TRA grandparents during the first semester of the 2010-2011 school year and taught by TRA computer teacher, Andrew Womack. The class covered internet basics, email, attachments, downloading, basic Word, document organization, etc. It was a success with 10-15 students each month. We will offer another Grandparent class at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year and will let you know more as details emerge.
We hope that you are able to take advantage of some of these opportunities to become an even bigger part of your grandchild's school experience. Thank you for all that you do!
