Theatre

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Theatre Department encourages every student in our program to fully develop his or her talents to glorify God and to strive for excellence through the performing arts. The TRA theatre program offers theatrical performance opportunities from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Students at the elementary level can participate in the elementary Christmas Program, Grandparent's Day Program, elementary chapel skits, private acting lessons after school and can audition for some high school theatre productions (according to cast needs).

Students at the middle school level can participate in the middle school music/drama class, middle school drama club, chapel skits and theatrical presentations, and the high school fall drama and spring musical productions (according to cast needs).

Students at the high school level can participate in the high school drama class, high school drama club, International Thespians Society, and high school drama and spring musical productions.

Middle School Music/Drama

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy middle school music/drama program provides students who are interested in music and/or acting a thriving Christian environment in which to develop and share their God given talents.

The middle school curriculum includes an Introduction to Performing Arts, Pantomine, Monologue and Group Acting, Create Your Own Skit - Dramatic Writing, Character Role Play, Musical Drama Chapel Presentations, Dance/Coreography, Study of Musical Styles, and Hymn Song Research.

The students have an opportunity to write and perform original dramatic skits or songs in one of the many chapel services throughout the year: "No Bullying Allowed", Christmas Chapel, Day of Prayer, and Easter Chapel. Past middle school productions include: Flashback and Nowhere to Run (original Christian musicals with written revision by Lalania Vaughn)

High School Theatre

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy high school theatre program provides students who are interested in music and/or acting a thriving Christian environment in which to develop and share their God given talents.

High school drama class (Intro to Theatre I and II) includes and Introduction to Theatre and Performing Arts, Principles of Improvosation/Pantomine, Stage Blocking, Monologue and Group Acting, Creative Writing of Skits, Monologues and Short Plays, Character Role Play, Set Design and Construction, Organization of Prop Room, Costume and Set Areas, Costume and Make-Up Design, Technical Theatre Support, Dance/Choreography, and Vocal Production Workshop. This course is a performance class. Students are expected to work consistently as a group toward an outstanding finished product. Reading, writing, rehearsing and memorization are vital to success in Theatre Arts. The class is interactive, energetic and encourages creativity. Play attendance and performance critiques are required each quarter. Contribution on some level to both school productions is also required.

The students have an opportunity to participate and/or perform in the fall drama or spring musical productions. They also have an opportunity to perform original dramatic skits in many of the chapel services throughout the year: "No Bullying Allowed", Christmas Chapel, Day of Prayer, and Easter Chapel.

The fall semester production is a classical, modern drama or musical selection. Past fall productions include: Cheaper by the Dozen, Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, Bermuda Triangle Getaway, Dr. Gorilla and Me, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Romeo and Juliet.

The spring semester production is a musical that involves all areas of the Fine Arts Department: Drama, Visual Arts and Choir. Some past musicals include: Bye Bye Birdie, Grease - The School Version, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and The Beast, Seussical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story and South Pacific.
