The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Department of Vocal Music encourages every student in our program to fully develop his or her talents to glorify God and to strive for excellence in every area of musical study and performance. Our students are given the opportunity to study and perform music of every genre: Sacred - Gospel, Contemporary-Christian Worship, Classical English, Foreign Language, Folk, Jazz, Blues, and Pop. Through college preparatory musical expectations, students learn the values of discipline and commitment, which foster success in all areas of academic life, as well as family, church and community.

TRA Choirs Finish 1st Place at National Competition

The TRA Show Choir and the TRA Mixed Choir both received 1st Place and Superior Ratings in their divisions at the 2012 Festivals of Music National Competition in St. Louis, MO. Additionally, the Show Choir ranked 2nd Place (OVER-ALL) among 16 competing choirs from Tennessee, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Mississippi and Virginia.


TRA Show Choir Performs at "Arts in the Streets"

For the second year in a row the TRA Show Choir presented a showstopping performance at the City of Millington's "Arts in the Streets" Festival.

TRA Choir Students Receive Top Rankings for the 2011 All-West Honor Choir

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Choir Students, under the Direction of Mrs. Lalania Vaughn, received top rankings for the 2011 All West Honor Choir. This is the 5th year that TRA students have participated in the All-West Honor Choir and many of the choir members will received certificates for their years of participation. Curricular & Extracurricular Offerings

Music Theory Software (Levels I, II and III) is offered to give students a more thorough understanding of the music they are studying and performing. This Music Theory Software allows each student to work at their own pace as they strive to master each level. This Theory Course Study is an extendion of the Concer Choir Performance Class and is available to students in grades 7-12.

Curricular offerings include: High School Concert Choir (9th-12th) and Middle School Concert Choir. (7th-8th)

Extracurricular offerings include: SHOWSTOPPERS - TRA Competition Show Choir, All West and All State Honor Choirs, Solo and Ensemble Festival, Local, Regional and National Music Festivals, chapel performances (solo and ensemble), chapel praise band, fully staged musicals with live orchestra, private piano lessons and private voice lessons.

We are very proud of and blessed by the accomplishments of our students and choral ensembles. Our high school and middle school concert choirs and show choir consistently earn Superior ratings, 1st place and Sweepstake awards at local, regional, and national festivals. Our students are also represented at Governor's School for the Arts, All West and All State Honor Choirs, Mid-South Fair Talent Competition, Orhpeum Star Search, local and regional talent searches, and community stage productions. Many of our students have also received scholarships to study Music at top ranked colleges and universities.

Our choirs travel locally, regionally and nationally to perform in music festivals which provide our students an opportunity to be judged and critiqued by industry professionals. Our students and choral ensembles perform in local churches and for school, business and community events as well.

The Department of Vocal Music presents two concerts each year: The Middle and High School Choir Christmas Concert and The Middle and High School Spring Concert and Dessert Gala. Both concerts feature our SHOWSTOPPERS Competition Show Choir. Our music department is blessed to provide one of the strongest vocal music education programs in the area. TRA Choirs place 1st at "Music in the Park"



Under the direction of Mrs. Lalania Vaughn, the TRA high school choir competed in the "Music in the Park" competition in St. Louis, MO on April 29, 2011. TRA received 1st place and a superior rating in mixed choir, 1st place and a superior rating in girls ensemble, 1st place and a superior rating in show choir, (TRA Senior) Annie Miller received Best Overall Soloist, and Tipton Rosemark Academy received the "Espirit De Corps" Award which was given to only ONE school for their overall excellence in the spirit of competition, conduct and community.
